how im decorating (for now)

We have finally settled in and unpacked and decorated and I'm ready to show you guys how I've decorated our apartment. It is 100% subject to change but while we are getting life situated, this will do for now. There are still a few empty walls that I'm not too happy about but I'm pretty satisfied with how everything turned out so far.

Side note: Please excuse any NASCAR memorabilia that you see. Its not easy having a husband who actually cares about home décor...

Our entryway! I got the shoe idea from Pinterest and Brent actually came up with the mailbox-as-an-umbrella holder idea. That's the mailbox from our wedding and we didn't want to throw it away.

This is right above our entry way set up. It's A map of Sebring, Deerfield, and Nashville!

Here are some shots of the living room. home5
Here are some detailed shots of out Expedit shelf from Ikea. I love this thing! I have a full picture on my Instagram so check that out if you want to see it. The 'MR&MRS' was a gift from our wedding and the little tree next to it was also from our wedding and I put some fall flowers on it because I'm seasonal... And yes, I know that frame is empty. home6
My husband worked so hard on this collage wall and he did such a great job. I love it and it's pretty much the focal point when you walk into the room. home8
Our half dining room, half office because we're adults. home9 home10
The lighting in my kitchen is fugly so you just get details today. home11
Nothin' special going on in the bathroom. home12
Getting a king-sized bed is in the 'Top 5 best things I've ever done' list. home13
...and the patio. I love having a patio! I tried to get a picture of the view because it really is beautiful but its rainy here in Nashville so maybe another day.

So there it is! It's no where near complete but I love it and I'm proud of it and it feels like home. I will update as I add/alter things. Which is inevitable.

my first fall day!

fall2 fall1 fall3

This is literally a my favorite kind of outfit to wear- leggings, boots, and a flowy top and I am good to go. Today the high was 65 and that was perfect weather for me but I know that's freezing to some people. This was the first day since we moved here that I actually did my hair and makeup and it felt awesome to get pretty again! I'm excited to be posting another outfit, something about Nashville inspires me to get more creative. I actually decided to start this blog in Nashville.

Until next time,

nashville

This post will be completely un-fashion related. So for those of you who don't follow me on Instagram, we've moved to Nashville! I am so excited and have been waiting to do something like this forever. We will miss our families and friends more than anything but this will be such an exciting part of our new life together !

I really want to document my life here in Nashville so along with the fashion posts, there will also be some lifestyle posts. So for my first Nashville life post, i'm documenting my apartment search! While we were searching about 2 weeks ago we had 2 days to look at like 6 apartment complexes. Since I had so much fun looking at apartments, I would like to share with everyone all the places we went as well as the place we actually chose to live!

So this is the first place:

This place was always my first choice because it was really big and the complex itself was so beautiful and hilly but once they added on all the fees, it was crazy expensive!

Pros:
beautiful grounds
huge apartment
lots of natural light
close to downtown
big screened in patio
window in kitchen!
fireplace
wood floors

Cons:
lots of expensive hidden fees
the kitchen wasn't open
small bathrooms
further from work

photo viewsoncumberland.png This one was nice as well but the back porch was facing the Cumberland River, which is cool, except that its basically a swamp with a million mosquitos and spiders.

Pros:
nicely redone inside
new kitchen
inexpensive

Cons:
swamp
bugs and spiders
no sunlight
only 2 windows
small bedroom
weird area

This apartment was really nice and updated but was just a bit too cramped for us

Pros:
newly renovated
high ceilings
lots of sunlight
nice neighborhood
bar counter

Cons:
small
gas heating and water
no where to put TV and we didn't want to mount it
further from work and downtown

I loved it here as well but the apartments that we looked at weren't the cleanest. They weren't dirty but you just would have thought they'd have been cleaner? The woman at the sales office would have given us a great deal too but we just didn't feel like home here.

Andddd here is where we chose to live!:

Now I know what you're thinking, "Why didn't you pick one of the places with wood floors or nice kitchens??" For some reason out of all the places we looked at, this was the one that felt most like home. And as I'm sitting here on my couch (finally), I know we made the right choice.

Pros:
10 minutes from downtown!
a mile from 3 grocery stores and a bunch of restaurants
 10 ft ceilings
huge windows and a lot of natural lighting
awesome view from all the windows
lots of space
huge laundry room
huge bedroom

Cons:
3rd floor (never again)

I can't wait until everything is hung and put into place so I can post pictures of it furnished and decorated ! xo
